South Dakota started to feel like the state of reconnections for us. We started in Brandon, where we met up with a terrific man and met his beautiful family. He was a teacher at Bouse Elementary School when Geneva was the principal there. Spending an evening with his wife and kids was a joy! 
Then we rolled on to Pierre, SD. We met up with one of Mike’s high school wrestling pals from New Hartford High School. We ate at his fine restaurant and camped at a beautiful state park nearby. 
While driving across the prairie of South Dakota we stopped at a few geocaches
and worked our way towards the scenic highlights and another big birthday surprise!
