Sad news to report-

Many of our friends and family follow us on “real-time” social media. But many of our regular blog readers only get their updates here. And you may have noticed that these stories are usually a month or more delayed.

For the purpose of accuracy and clarity, I must share some sad news with all of you…..

Last week we were at an event in a small village. Children set off fire crackers unexpectedly and Nica became panicked and ran away. We expected her to return to the truck- as she has so many times before. But she did not. After 18 hours of frantic searching we found her deceased on the nearby highway. We had to say goodbye to that precious, blue-eyed princess! She was laid to rest in some rolling hills at the base of the Andes.

We ask that you just take a moment to hug your fur kids a little tighter and a little longer. We have certainly been doing that with Pacha, as we help her adjust to being and “only dog”.

The blog posts will continue to feature photos of Nica as they occurred. She was a huge part of our travels over the past five years, including our time in Argentina and Bolivia. You will continue to see photos of her as they appear, until the time that she died.

Thank you for following our journey and experiencing all the emotions with us. This is real life. Someone recently asked if we make a lot of money off this. Please know that we are not monetized in any way. We do not sell ads, share links, operate a video channel or link to products. We sell our stickers to offset the ones we give away along the road. We fund our travels independently through careful budgeting and retirement income. we welcome your questions about this or any other matter.

Hug your loved ones- family, friends and pets. Our time on this earth is short and we must live every bit of it to the fullest.

“What a long, strange trip it’s been…”
