Things don’t go as planned…..

When we arrived back to our home base in Arizona we found a stack of mail waiting for us. Mom has been diligent at collecting and managing our mail for us for the past year on the road.  Some of it she forwarded to us, and some of it she held for us to read upon our return to Clarkdale.   One of the most wonderful items was this newspaper article featuring US!!  It was printed just as we were leaving Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. IMG_5615  The article was cute, and made us smile, but the real treasure was the note which we found attached to it.   The folks we had driveway camped with had attached this special note and mailed it to Mom.  IMG_5614  Why is this so special, you ask?

Well, three days after we arrived back at home base, Geneva’s mothers home in Clarkdale, AZ……. Mom passed away.  It was sudden.  Surprising.  Unexpected.  Shocking.

We are here for many tasks on our to-do list.  But all of those will be set aside while we busy ourselves with the mourning process and the management of her estate.  The loss of a loved one is never easy.  This one signifies so many levels of sadness that it is difficult to express.  We were really looking forward to spending these next 6 months with her.  Now we find ourselves treasuring the recent visits with her which are chronicled elsewhere on this blog.  And we feel so thankful that we had a few days with her here, and she passed away in peace, with dignity and in the home she loved.  Goodbye, Mom.

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

  2. Ah, Geneva. I am so very sorry. I know how difficult it is. But she waited for you to return. What a blessing!
Take your time to mourn. Dia de los Muertos. A time to remember
